An ApplicationACT 1:6, paradigms die hard. Notice they said "kingdom to Israel" not "Kingdom of God." These were the Apostles! And they were still thinking about PS 110:1 & ISA 61:1-2. Not blaming them, for today we have hindsight of almost two millenia showing God was not in a hurry (2PE 3:9, ZEP 3:8). / ACT 1:8 Christians are commanded to evangelize & proselytize. Compare MT 28:18-20. / ACT 1:10-11 emphasizes Jesus did not ride off into the sunset. He went straight up.

Connect the DotsCompare ACT 1:11 to MT 24:30 & 26:64. Then we'll have REV 19:11-16. A likely reason why this prophecy has not yet been fulfilled is REV 7:9-10, everyone whom God wants reached has not yet been reached. It is our job to reach them, whether across the street or across the planet. / Jesus was both the sacrificial lamb of God and our scapegoat: LEV 16:7-10.
